Embroidery No. 1

This is my first attempt at embroidering an unfinished pleated skirt. I bought my first tools for learning Tambour embroidery but that wasn't working out so well so I decided: hand embroidery it is. I feel like the lines could be straighter and I would have to sew and secure every bead on this and I really didn't wanna spend all my free time on this so here is what I've come up with. In person, it glistens. Also, this is only the second time I'm sewing a garment, and the first pleated skirt that I made was 9/10 if it weren't for me adding a zipper that I totally butchered.

Here are some details for this project:

  • Fabric: Barely Blue Taffeta 100% Silk (1m cause I'm 5'0 tall which in terms of buying fabrics is a good thing)

  • Some polyester lining I bought somewhere

  • Second cupro lining to hide the embroidery threads

  • Lace fabric for trimmed bottom

  • Gütermann Threads no. 193 for sewing and no. 275 for beading

  • Beads: Bicones Preciosa MC Bead Rondell Capri Blue AB 2X4mm, Miyuki Delica Beads Light Gold 24K 11/0, Miyuki Bugles Beads Ceylon Light Yellow 6mm, Miyuki Delica Ceylon Light Yellow 10/0

  • Time beading and drafting: 30 minutes- 1 hour per triangle (yeah I'm slow and chose this path)

Stay tuned for an editorial photo ;).
